The European Lacrosse Federation is pleased to announce that the host nation for the European Championships 2012 will be the Netherlands. We extend our congratulations to the Netherlands.

The ELF also gives its appreciation and thanks to the organisers for Austria and Denmark. The bids were very well presented and a great deal of effort went into putting the bids together. We hope that other lacrosse events will continue to be held in those countries to keep our sport developing. The ELF will, as always assist such events where possible.

As we move forward the ELF executive committee will now liaise with the event organisers in the Netherlands and once we are in a position to provide information to member countries we shall update members as we progress towards 2012.

A winning wave for the First Ladies PDF Print E-mail

The First Ladies enjoy a great start to the 2009/2010 season.

Even before the season began, the Ladies scored three major wins against Amsterdam, Utrecht and Nijmegen to land the top prize and come home as winners of the Devil's season warm-up tournament in Utrecht. A lovely positive start to the season which promises to be The Ladies Number One!

The first draw of this year's season was executed neatly in Rotterdam. The Ladies lined up against Nijmegen and the first game of the season had begun. The final score; Ladies 18, Nijmegen 0.

The second league game took the Ladies to Tilburg, where they played against Rotterdam. The Ladies arrived on the field with an impressive team of 19 players, with 3 additional injured players standing in as coaches. They claimed a clear victory of 15 to 3. It was also the opportunity for the team to welcome 3 new players, who proved to be very active on the field.

As the season moved on, the Ladies faced a real challenge in their third game against the Groningen Galalxies (Dutch Champions 2009). 16 players and one player-coach stepped out onto the field to stand up to them, not an easy task considering their height! The Ladies had the will and "where there's a will, there's a way"! Determined to win after being narrowly beaten on a number of occasions last season, they soon took the lead with a score of 2 to 0. The Ladies were leading for almost the whole of the long, very long first half (more than 1 hour!!). Finally, at half time, the Galaxies had managed to equalise the score at 6 to 6. However, the Ladies reacted strongly to this challenge and came back on the field fighting in the second half, to win with a final score of 12 to 8. This game was probably the best game played by the Ladies ever! Everyone fighting for every ball, a lot of communication on the field, fast breaks, an impressive defense and great saves by the goalie were the key to this success.

The First Ladies now find themselves in the number one spot in the league table at this point in the season and are now working on ensuring that their winning wave will last for the remainder of the season!

"First Ladies, Number One!"

Den Haag Knights win over Emmen Highlanders PDF Print E-mail

After one forfeit to start off the season and two crushing defeats, the Knights managed to get things straightened out and put up a good game against Maastricht two weeks ago, which was lost in an honourable way.

Last weekend the Knights finally pulled off their first win of the season in a convincing way. Defeating the Emmen Highlanders with 19-1, the Knights managed to get back the confidence in the game. With the entire team working together on face offs, defence and attack, they managed to get a lot of different people scoring and find their feel for the game again. This result got the Knights off the bottom position in the league since the start of the season, which is a huge relief.

In two weeks the Knights will face the Amsterdam Lions again and they know it will be a tough fight on hometurf. The Knights had to forfeit their first game of the season to the Amsterdam Lions but in two weeks their first official game will take place in Den Haag. The Knights look forward to playing a worthy opponent to measure their skills and newborn spirit and playing the game with confidence in a honourable way.

15-03-2009

The game started very well, the First Ladies  were ahead with 2-0. Than Groningen came back and it was 2-5, but the Ladies recovered and came to 3-5 before resttime. After rest the Ladies continued the good play and finished it up to 8-8, just before the end of the game. Sadly Groningen scored one more time. So the Ladies lost 8-9. Too bad, but nobody was very disappointed, because it was a fantastic game. The First Ladies just picked the wrong side of the coin. It was a game on play-off level and both teams enjoyed it very much!
